Freetricity is to offer homeowners the chance to go green for free, as part of its solar energy strategy. A total of 1,200 residents per selected county will get the opportunity to have free solar panels installed and maintained absolutely free of charge under the rent-a-roof model that has become popular across the UK.

The installations are to be completed by AVC, which will utilise Growatt inverters and a selection of tier 1 panels including Mitsubishi, Dimplex, Schott and Yingli. The company operates across the south east of England including Surrey, Berks, Bucks, Kent, Hampshire, SW London, Essex and Hertfordshire.

The scheme has received £10 million in financing from Lombard Financial, which is part of the Royal bank of Scotland Group and £2 million in private investment.

Chief Executive Officer at Freetricity, Paul Williams said, “This really is a fantastic deal which we are currently only offering in this area. It is completely free to the homeowner and I hope it will persuade people who are interested in reducing their carbon footprint but concerned about cost, that solar is a genuinely viable alternative to traditional energy sources. Anybody who is interested simply needs to visit www.freetricity.net to register and find out more.”

“I’m a great believer in the importance of looking after the environment and I’m delighted that we are able to offer this great deal to local residents.  By going green with Freetricity you could reduce your electricity bills by around 40%. There really are no catches.

Chief Technical Officer Ben Way said, “Freetricity have had a financial vote of confidence from Lombard Finance who have backed us to the tune of £10 million. In addition, we have set up a partnership with AVC Group for installation – one of the largest most reliable and reputable installers in the business who are working in 2,500 homes across the UK every day.  We are the only solar company in this part of the country able to offer completely free installation and maintenance with no cost to the homeowner.  It really is a case of sign up before it’s too late!”
